Dr. Ziad Omar
BSc, DDS, MCID, FRCDC ( Orthodontics)
CERTIFIED SPECIALIST IN ORTHODONTICS
Dr. Ziad Omar is a long-time resident of Mississauga. After attending Applewood Heights Secondary School, Dr. Omar was admitted to the University of Toronto, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Anthropology in 1994. During his undergraduate studies, he was placed on the Dean’s Honour List and received several awards and scholarships.
Following completion of his degree, Dr. Omar was accepted into the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with High Distinction. After graduation, he completed a General Practice Residency at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he received advanced training in the dental management of children and adolescents.
After several years in private practice as a general dentist, Dr. Omar returned to graduate school and earned a Master of Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics from the University of Western Ontario. He was subsequently awarded Fellowship in Orthodontics by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Dr. Omar holds a dual licence in Ontario as both a General Dentist and a Certified Specialist in Orthodontics. He is registered as a Certified Specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics with both the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario and the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
A strong believer in education and professional development, Dr. Omar has remained actively involved in teaching throughout his career. He has served as an Adjunct Clinical Professor with the Division of Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics at the University of Western Ontario, where he participated in the education and mentorship of future dental professionals. He has also served as Course Coordinator and Presenter for the Orthodontic Module Certification Program for Dental Assistants and has been invited to lecture at numerous professional meetings, study clubs, and continuing education programs.
Dr. Omar is a Certified Provider of Invisalign, Angel Aligners, and Spark Aligners. He remains committed to delivering the latest advances in orthodontic care through ongoing continuing education, scientific research, and participation in professional conferences and meetings.
Dr. Omar has held numerous leadership positions within organized dentistry and orthodontics. He currently serves as President of the Ontario Association of Orthodontists, the professional organization representing specialist orthodontists across Ontario. He is also the Past President of the Toronto Orthodontic Study Club, an organization dedicated to the advancement of orthodontic education, scientific excellence, and quality patient care. He is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the Ontario Association of Orthodontists, Ontario Dental Association, Halton-Peel Dental Association, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Omar is committed to providing exceptional orthodontic care in a welcoming and professional environment. He takes pride in developing individualized treatment plans and helping children, teenagers, and adults achieve healthy and confident smiles.
Dr. Omar’s commitment to evidence-based orthodontics extends beyond clinical practice. His Master’s thesis, “Profile Changes Following Extraction Orthodontic Treatment: A Comparison of First Versus Second Premolar Extraction,” was published in the peer-reviewed journal International Orthodontics, reflecting his dedication to advancing orthodontic knowledge through research. Rula comes from an orthodontic background. She brings in tons of experience to our office in terms of patient care. You will find Rula either busy with patients or helping her team mates. Her positive attitude is very contagious. When Rula is not at the office, she is keeping herself busy reading and hiking
